Job Description for A Mentor Worker

Position Description

A disability support worker plays a pivotal role in delivering compassionate care, assistance, and support to individuals living with disabilities. Their objective is to empower individuals with disabilities, fostering increased independence, enhancing their overall quality of life, and promoting active engagement within their communities.

Responsibilities and Duties

Assist clients with various household tasks, such as meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry, to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment.
Helping with household chores, such as cooking, laundry and cleaning.
Provide hands-on personal care based on individual client needs, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication management.
Foster meaningful connections with clients through active listening, companionship, and empathy, promoting mental and emotional well-being.
Conduct regular assessments of clients' needs and progress, maintaining accurate records and promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Encourage and support clients in developing and maintaining their independence and self-confidence by offering guidance and assistance as needed.
Ensure the safety and well-being of clients at all times, following established safety protocols and infection control measures.

Maintain participant health records and documentation according to Bright Light Mentoring Service Pty Ltd’s policies.

Knowledge and Skills

A compassionate and patient demeanour.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physically able to carry out the duties required by the role.

The ability to build and maintain rapport with participants.

Qualifications/Experience

Certificate III in Individual Support, Mental Health, Aged Care, Community Services, Disability Work or a diploma in community services is advantageous.
First Aid Certificate
Six months experience as support worker/coordinator.
Australian Driver’s Licence.
Reliable and insured vehicle
Working with Children Check (if applicable) and NDISWC.
Smartphone

Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Program and Supporting People to Stay Infection Free module.

Job Description for Cleaner

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing specialized cleaning services. This role requires a respectful and compassionate approach while adhering to strict safety and health regulations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors and surfaces.
Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, kitchens, and other common areas.
Changing bed linens and making beds as required.
Washing dishes, laundry, and other household chores.
Removing trash and recycling materials regularly.
Organizing clutter and maintaining order in designated areas.
Using cleaning products and equipment safely and effectively.
Reporting any maintenance issues or damages observed during cleaning.
Respecting clients' privacy and property at all times.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent; certification in biohazard cleaning or a related field is a plus.
Previous experience in forensic cleaning, biohazard remediation, or related fields preferred.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for handling hazardous materials.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members effectively.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and compassion.
Physically fit, capable of lifting heavy objects and performing strenuous tasks.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
